Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic

We are a well‑established specialty contracting company working across the South Florida construction market.
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to support our growing fleet. This role is essential to keeping our projects running safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Job Summary
You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment used in construction and environmental operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical expertise, takes pride in quality work, and can work independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment including excavators, pumps, loaders, forklifts, and other industrial machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues using OEM manuals and schematics.
  • Conduct fabrication work when needed, including welding, cutting, and equipment modifications.
  • Repair and service diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes and suspension systems.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of maintenance schedules while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • 5+ years mechanical experience working with heavy construction equipment; familiarity with John Deere or similar OEM brands is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and automotive diagnostics.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools.
  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting systems effectively.
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation is a plus; must be comfortable performing heavy lifting safely.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and field personell.
