Heavy Equipment Operator

C. M. Mitchell Construction Company, located in Sneads Ferry NC, is looking for an EXPERIENCED Heavy Equipment Operator.

This heavy equipment operator will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the operation of heavy equipment with blade, bucket and backhoe attachments for excavation, back-filling, loading and grading.

Heavy Equipment Operator Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Operate heavy equipment (large excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, skid steer loaders, trenchers, etc.) used in site preparation projects, utility maintenance projects and other projects as required.
• Assumes responsibility for operation of assigned equipment
• Excavates to dimensions as specified by construction drawings, sketches, grade markers and/or verbal instructions
• Performs back-filling and grading operations to specified grades.
• Loads flatbed trucks, dump trucks, or pickup trucks with excavated soils or building materials such as sand, aggregate, stone, asphalt, or construction debris.
• Inspects the equipment for mechanical problems and informs crew lead or site supervisor of any problems
• Loads and/or helps load and unload trucks that require lifting of 50 - 75 pounds, laying pipe, using air tools and jackhammers and other tools related to the job.
• Perform in accordance with OSHA and company safety policies and practices
• Performs related work as assigned

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two years of heavy equipment experience - Meaning Excavator, Bulldozer, Loader.
• Individual will have considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operation, knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
