The Heavy Truck Crane Driver operates a mobile crane mounted on a truck chassis to lift, move, position, and place heavy materials, equipment, and construction materials. This role combines commercial driving with specialized crane operation, requiring both CDL licensing and crane operator certification
Primary ResponsibilitiesCrane Operation
- Operate crane under general supervision using lever, pedal, and joystick controls to regulate speed, direction, and hoist movement
- Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, steel trusses, and other heavy objects at construction sites and industrial facilities
- Calculate load weights and check against lifting capacities to prevent overload using load charts
- Rotate crane on chassis, raise/lower boom, and maneuver loads with precision according to verbal, written, or signal instructions
- Bolt boom sections together to extend or modify boom for pile driving or high lifting operations
Working Conditions
- Location: Various construction sites, industrial facilities, ports, or transportation yards
