Heavy Vehicle Electrician

Muscat, Oman

diagnoses, maintains, and repairs the complex electrical and electronic systems in heavy-duty vehicles, such as trucks and buses. Responsibilities include using diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot issues with wiring, alternators, and lighting systems, performing preventive maintenance, installing new electrical components, and ensuring all work adheres to manufacturer and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Use advanced diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters to identify and locate faults in vehicle electrical systems.
  • Repairs & Replacements: Repair or replace defective wiring, starters, generators, batteries, and other electrical components.
  • Maintenance: Conduct routine, planned, and preventive maintenance on auto-electrical systems to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Installation: Install new electrical equipment, accessories, and electronic systems, such as communication or security equipment.
  • Testing & Calibration: Test electrical components and systems to verify functionality and proper operation after repairs.
  • Documentation: Record all work performed, recommended repairs, and spare parts consumption on repair orders or other reports.
  • Safety & Compliance: Operate tools and equipment safely, and ensure work complies with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and legislative requirements.

Required Skills & Knowledge

Heavy vehicle electrician (5-6 years of experience + aware of the latest trends and vehicle requirements) (Must be familiar with the following brand of equipment Mercedes, MAN, Renault, Sitrack, HINO etc.)

  • Electrical Systems: Strong understanding of electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems in heavy vehicles.
  • Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency in using specialized electrical and computer diagnostic equipment.
  • Schematic Reading: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Troubleshooting: A knack for creative problem-solving to diagnose complex issues.
  • Tool Proficiency: Skill in using various hand tools, power tools, and specialized instruments.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to work in various positions, often under a vehicle or in cramped spaces.
