Hebrew School Teacher

The Glen Rock Jewish Center (grjc.org) is a thriving Jewish community nestled in a suburban town of Bergen County, NJ, 10 minutes from Teaneck. The Glen Rock Jewish Center is dedicated to preserving Jewish values and providing lifelong Jewish experiences for individuals and families living in Glen Rock and neighboring communities.

We are seeking a part-time teacher for an immediate opening at $65 - $81/hour:

6th grade Tuesdays 3:45 – 6:45 pm. Curriculum includes values in Torah, Jewish holidays, Jewish history, Israel, and understanding and chanting prayers

Preference is for teachers with a degree in education and/or strong experience in Jewish educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Plans lessons rooted in the Jewish tradition. and that strengthen students’ Jewish identity.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
• Uses diverse teaching strategies to meet students’ needs.
• Enhances students’ reading and understanding of Hebrew and prayer.
• Integrates technology as a tool to enhance learning.
• Communicates effectively with parents and staff.
• Attends and actively participates in staff meetings, grade-specific programs, and professional development opportunities.

Pay: $65.00 - $81.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 per week
