HERBICIDE APPLICATOR FIELD TECHNICIAN
The Herbicide Applicator will perform outdoor herbicide applications in both aquatic and terrestrial environments on public and private lands in Grays Harbor and Jefferson County. The applicator will utilize backpack and hand sprayers to apply herbicides to invasive plant species. Knowledge of invasive plants, outdoor navigation skills, attention to detail, strong legs, and a positive attitude are essential. This position requires working outdoors for 8-10 hours in forested areas and river flood plains in weather conditions. Preference will be given to those with a high school degree, experience related to fish and wildlife resource management, forestry, invasive species treatment, or college course work towards a degree in fishery or wildlife management, forestry, or other closely related fields.

DUTIES/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Maintain a drug free work environment. Employees will be tested at random, post-accident, or at employer’s discretion.
· Must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision or work closely in small crews for long hours in a professional manner and with a good attitude.
· Attention to detail and goal oriented individual.
· Must be willing to be flexible with the work schedule, .
· Requires effective and polite communication when interacting with the public.
· Ability to learn a wide range of invasive aquatic and terrestrial plants and ID in the field.
· Ability to enter and manage data using various devices (GPS, Tablet, Phone).
· Maintain equipment in good working condition and report any problems or issues.
· Proper use of PPE and ensure the safety of all crew members during all operations. Report any safety concerns.
· Ability to walk/hike for long periods through heavily forested/brushy areas along river flood plains.
· Must have a valid driver's license.
· Good physical condition, enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 40 lbs.
· Ability to learn a wide range of invasive aquatic and terrestrial plants and ID in the field.
· No cell service in many work locations.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
