Are you a skilled HGV Driver who takes pride in safety, reliability, and delivering great service? Join our friendly team as an HGV Driver at our site in Atherton, Manchester, and play a key role in supporting our recycling operations. Help us move materials efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism.

The Role

As a key part of our transport team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and delivery of recyclable materials, waste, and RDF. You’ll ensure all journeys are completed in line with planned schedules, legal requirements, and company procedures.

From carrying out daily vehicle checks and securing loads, to completing documentation and communicating with site teams and customers, you’ll be an essential part of keeping our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate HGV vehicles safely in accordance with road traffic laws and company procedures
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
  • Transport recyclable materials, waste, and RDF between sites and customers
  • Ensure loads are secured correctly and comply with weight limits and safety standards
  • Follow planned routes and schedules efficiently to meet operational deadlines
  • Complete all relevant documentation including delivery notes, tachograph records, and timesheets
  • Comply with Drivers’ Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the vehicle and during site activities
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site operatives, and management
  • Support site operations where required, including basic loading or sheeting tasks
  • Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately

What We’re Looking ForEssential:

  • Valid HGV Licence (Class 1 HGV Category C+E)
  • Driver CPC qualification
  • Digital Tachograph Card
  • Proven experience driving HGVs in a commercial environment
  • Good understanding of driver hours and road transport legislation
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices
  • Ability to work to schedules and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience within waste, recycling, or environmental services
  • Knowledge of transfer stations or recycling site operations
  • Experience using walking floor trailers, sheeting systems
