HGV Class 1 Driver - Floating

Location: Hams Hall (Birmingham)
Reporting to: Transport Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10 hours per day (some flexibility required)
Holiday: 25 days + bank holidays (33 days total)
Pay: £16 p/h / £720 p/w / £37,440 PA + OT, Meal allowance and Nights out where applicable

Job Overview
Working within the transport and driving team to deliver a first-class service to our customers, ensuring their deliveries reach their destination in a safe and efficient way whilst adhering to transport and company regulations and requirements. Due to the nature of this floater role, the driver would also need to be willing to drive Class 2’s as needed and may be required to do nights out.

General Responsibilities:

  • Representing the company in a professional, helpful and proactive manner to all potential, new and current customers
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring you comply with statutory law, company policy & health & safety guidelines
  • Complying with company policies and processes, achieving KPI’s to improve cost and operational efficiencies.
  • Driving different Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles to cover holidays and sickness
  • Deliver a service in line with business expectations
  • Maintain good personal hygiene
  • Report product safety incidents
  • Watch for evidence of pests on site
  • Follow the requirements of the drivers' handbook
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements are complied with, for all customers.
  • Responsible for own load security and strapping ensuring a safe delivery.
  • Obtaining delivery confirmations via electronic or paper methods as required and ensuring these are returned safely to the transport office.
  • Reporting to traffic planners on potential incidents, delays and successful delivery ensuring they are advised if you are running behind schedule.
  • Conducting vehicle inspections before departure, recording via the app and reporting any defects to the transport office.
  • Delivering goods on assigned routes throughout the UK and adhering to timings and customer requirements.
  • Unloading goods as per client specifications, this may involve some manual handling or assisting the customer with unloading where required.
  • Participate in our ongoing driver assessment and CPC programmes and making driving improvements where required.
  • Completing E-learning and toolbox talks to continue your industry knowledge
  • Ensure any medicals and licences are up to date as per legislation.
  • Promote a positive and supportive working environment for all employees.
  • Undertake any other duties required.

Working hours and Package:

Monday to Friday 10 hours per day. Some flexibility and overtime will be required due to the nature of the role.

25 days holiday plus bank holidays. Total 33 days.

Overtime, Night out allowance, meal allowance where applicable.

Clean and modern vehicles; microwave & fridge in vehicle.
