HGV Class 1 Driver Tramper Driver

Job Summary
We are a small family-run haulage company operating 8 trucks and working with long-established customers.

We are looking for dependable and reliable Class 1 tramper drivers who are comfortable with tramping work and want a long-term position with a straightforward company.

This role would suit a driver who prefers being out on the road, working independently and getting on with the job without constant micromanagement.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate curtainsided lorries to transport goods to designated locations.
• Plan efficient routes for timely deliveries whilst remaining compliant with driver and working time rules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it is in safe working order.
• Secure cargo properly using appropriate fastening techniques to prevent damage during transit.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption in compliance with company policies.
• Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations and company policies during every journey.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery times and any unforeseen delays.
• Handle any issues or delays that may arise during transport.
• Comply with all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.

Skills

• Proven experience in driving commercial vehicles, particularly curtainsider lorries or similar transport equipment.
• Strong driving skills with a clean driving record and valid driver’s licence suitable for operating large vehicles.
• Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for commercial driving.
• Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules and route planning efficiently.
• Good communication skills for liaising with clients, dispatchers, and team members.

Pay: From £45,000.00 per year
