HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Beavertail Driver

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Beavertail Driver to join our growing team. You will be based at our new Launceston Depot, but will also need to provide flexibility between our Truro and Launceston Depots as needed. As a Beavertail Driver, you will be responsible for transporting construction machinery across various locations around Cornwall. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled driver who enjoys a diverse and hands-on role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transporting Machinery & Equipment: Safely and efficiently drive a Beavertail vehicle to deliver and collect construction machinery.
  • Load and Unload: Ensure the safe loading, unloading, and securing of loads using appropriate techniques and equipment. Maintain strict adherence to load regulations and safety standards.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is in good working order. Report any issues promptly and keep accurate records.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service when on-site, ensuring all deliveries and collections are carried out in a professional and timely manner.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Driver's Hours Regulations, Health and Safety standards, and company policies. Keep all required paperwork, including delivery notes and logbooks, up to date.
  • Safe Driving: Maintain a high standard of driving, ensuring the vehicle is driven safely and efficiently at all times. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Licence: A current, valid HGV Class 2 (Cat C) driving licence is essential.
  • CPC & Digital Tachograph Card: Must hold a valid Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph card.
  • Experience: A minimum of 12 months experience driving HGV vehicles, preferably with Beavertail trucks, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
  • Load Securing: Knowledge of load securing techniques and ensuring safe transportation of goods.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of Health and Safety protocols to ensure safe loading, unloading, and driving procedures.
  • Excellent Communication: Good communication skills to liaise with clients, site workers, and the office team.
  • Local Area Knowledge: Due to the nature of Cornwalls roads, knowledge of the local area is desirable.
