HGV Class 2 Driver - Highways Work

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking HGV Class 2 Driver to join our expanding highways and infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting materials, plant, and equipment to sites across the UK, while also assisting with the installation of vehicle restraint systems (VRS), highway barriers, security fencing, and associated infrastructure works.

This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work away from home when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 2 vehicles safely and in accordance with all legal and company requirements
• Transport materials, tools, plant, and equipment to and from project sites nationwide
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of:
• Vehicle restraint systems (safety barriers)
• Highway guardrails
• Security and perimeter fencing
• Gates and associated infrastructure
• Load and unload vehicles safely
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
• Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification
• Work as part of a team on highways, construction, and infrastructure projects
• Follow health & safety procedures, including site-specific RAMS
• Maintain a clean and professional working environment
• Participate in night shifts, weekends, and working away as required

Essential Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification
• Digital Tachograph Card
• CSCS Card
• Good understanding of health & safety practices
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Willingness to travel and work away across the UK
• Physically fit and capable of manual labour
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Requirements

• Experience installing vehicle restraint systems or fencing
• Highways England Sector Scheme experience
• Lantra NHSS or highways-related qualifications
• IPAF, CPCS, or NPORS qualifications
• Trailer towing experience
• First Aid qualification

Pay: £18.00-£23.00 per hour
