HGV Class C+E Driver (Class 1)

Job Summary

We are seeking a professional and reliable HGV Class C+E Driver (Class 1) to join our team at Clive Cowern Transport. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting freight across the UK, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.

This role offers a mix of UK-wide work, with flexibility depending on business needs, and is suited to both experienced drivers and newer drivers looking to develop.

Duties

• Operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles in line with road safety regulations and company procedures
• Carry out daily walkaround checks to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
• Plan and manage routes effectively to meet delivery schedules
• Load and unload goods where required, ensuring loads are secure and compliant
• Complete deliveries and collections professionally, representing the company to a high standard
• Accurately complete all relevant paperwork, PODs, and digital systems
• Report any defects, issues, or incidents promptly
• Comply fully with drivers’ hours, tachograph regulations, and working time rules
• Maintain a clean and professional vehicle at all times

Skills & Experience

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card
• Maximum of 6 penalty points
• Previous experience in a similar role preferred (support available for newer drivers)
• Good understanding of drivers’ hours and compliance requirements
• Strong timekeeping and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Professional and reliable approach with good customer service skills
• ADR (Tanks) is an advantage but not essential

Additional Information

• Salary: £41,600 per year
• Night Out Allowance: £26.75 per night (where applicable)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• Location: Bridgnorth (WV15)
