Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV Trailer Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and assembly of heavy goods vehicle trailers, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. Responsibilities
- Conduct fabrication, welding, and assembly of trailer components using hand tools and power tools
- Perform electrical work including soldering and interpreting schematics to diagnose faults
- Repair and maintain trailers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
- Utilise equipment such as excavators and forklifts to assist with heavy lifting and component handling
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and carry out necessary repairs or replacements
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and parts utilised
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal trailer performance
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, electrical systems, or mechanical repair within a similar role
- Strong knowledge of schematics, electrical wiring, and equipment repair techniques
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts
- Good understanding of trailer assembly processes and maintenance procedures
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical or electrical trades are desirable but not essential

Pay: £40,885.00-£50,000.00 per year
