Key responsibilities

• Operation: Safely operate both the truck and the HIAB crane to transport and position goods at designated locations.
• Loading and unloading: Securely load and unload materials, ensuring proper weight distribution and that cargo is handled safely.
• Safety: Conduct daily vehicle and crane equipment inspections, and follow all health and safety protocols. The crane may have safety features that prevent operation if it is unstable.
• Maintenance: Perform or report routine maintenance on the equipment.
• Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate delivery paperwork, including logs and trip reports.
• Communication: Coordinate effectively with ground personnel to ensure smooth operations.

Required skills and qualifications

• Driver's license: A valid heavy vehicle driver's license is essential, and some jurisdictions may require specific licenses (e.g., a UAE Heavy Truck/Mobile Crane license).
• HIAB certification: Specific training and certification in HIAB or mobile crane operation may be required.
• Experience: Many roles prefer or require previous experience operating HIAB cranes and heavy vehicles.
• Knowledge: A solid understanding of load capacity, safety limits, load weight calculations, and load chart reading is necessary.
• Physical fitness: Operators may need to perform some manual labor or have the physical stamina for ground tasks.
