Primary Purpose:
To serve as a key instructional and administrative leader at C.E. King High School, with primary responsibility for leading one of the school's specialized academies. The Academy/Assistant Principal supports the overall mission of the campus by ensuring high academic achievement, promoting a safe and supportive school culture, and managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned academy in alignment with campus and district goals.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field

Valid Texas Principal Certification (or Mid-Management)
-
Certified T-TESS appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
-
Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, and assessment

Leadership experience in academy models
-
Ability to manage instructional programs and supervise personnel

Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
-
Ability to analyze data for decision-making and program improvement
-
Knowledge of graduation requirements and post-secondary readiness
Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years as a classroom teacher (preferably at the secondary level)

Prior campus leadership experience (assistant principal or instructional coordinator preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Leadership

Lead the implementation of the academy's instructional vision aligned to district goals
-
Monitor curriculum implementation and classroom instruction within the academy

Analyze academic data to improve student achievement and adjust instructional supports

Coordinate academy-specific pathways, certifications, and/or dual credit programs
Student Success and Campus Climate

Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that fosters student growth
-
Manage student discipline and attendance for assigned grade level and/or academy
-
Support academic counseling, intervention, and credit recovery processes
-
Promote student involvement in academy-aligned clubs, organizations, and internships
Personnel Management

Supervise and evaluate assigned staff, including teachers and support personnel

Provide coaching and professional development tailored to the academy focus

Collaborate with instructional specialists and lead teachers to improve instruction
Operational and Compliance Management

Assist in developing and managing the academy's budget and resource allocations

Coordinate with CTE, Advanced Academics, or Higher Education partners as needed

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local policies related to the academy
Family and Community Engagement

Facilitate partnerships with industry, higher education institutions, and community stakeholders

Coordinate academy-specific parent nights, advisory board meetings, and student showcases

Communicate regularly with families about student progress, academy pathways, and opportunities
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting; long or irregular hours may be required; possible district-wide and local travel.
