High School Art Teacher

Job Summary: The position of an Art Teacher is to be an enthusiastic and passionate educator who can fill the role of a mentor and visual art professional full-time. This person will be responsible for each student to develop the ability and interest for visual creative expression utilizing skills and techniques of artistic expression. Development of aesthetic comprehension and appreciations; to grow and explore the talents of students in the field of art.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master's Degree preferred) and be interested in learning and growing with an up and coming Arts Academy for students dedicated to the arts. This candidate should be able to teach multiple studio-based art classes (including but not limited to) Sculpture, Painting, Drawing, Digital Photography, Digital Art and Graphic Design. The person that accepts this position should also be willing to teach in a hybrid and/or online model. Knowledge about Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are strongly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with the Art Department Chair to develop a well rounded Art Academy program (organize visiting artists, field trips and events)
  • Promoting the art in the community and throughout the school
  • Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art, digital photography and graphic design (candidate should have full knowledge of digital art for this position)
  • Create instructional classes that provides students the ability to develop aesthetic concepts and acknowledgements regarding art and art making
  • Demonstrate techniques in both digital and traditional applications of art
  • Knowledge of various tools, techniques and applications
  • Knows and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
  • Have the flexibility to work with an after school program (once a month)
  • Manage students and instruct them to have proper care and use of tools and equipment
  • Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection (including keeping inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Art Department to create art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community.

This is a full-time, 10 month position. Applicants should have reliable transportation and reside in the DMV area as Pallotti is unable to assist with any relocation costs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
