Position Overview:
We are seeking a thoughtful and creative English & History Teacher In person & Online who can inspire students through meaningful literature, effective writing instruction, and engaging discussions of world and U.S. history. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching across multiple grade levels and be comfortable integrating AP-level content when needed. A strong emphasis is placed on critical thinking, student expression, and historical context.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, helping students make cross-curricular connections, and co-developing curriculum that meets both A–G college prep standards and student curiosity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach middle and high school English and History courses (Literature, Writing, World/U.S. History)
- Support students preparing for AP English or AP History courses when necessary
- Create engaging lesson plans that include reading, writing, analysis, and discussion
- Integrate historical content with literature when appropriate for deeper understanding
- Collaborate with fellow teachers on thematic units and interdisciplinary projects
- Provide constructive feedback on writing and historical reasoning
- Maintain open communication with students and families regarding academic progress
- Participate in school events, curriculum development, and occasional PD workshops
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, History, or related field
- Strong background in literary analysis, writing instruction, and historical literacy
- 2+ years of teaching experience preferred
- Familiar with A–G standards and college-prep level expectations
- Comfortable using a variety of texts, including classical, modern, and multicultural works
- Passionate about education, reliable, and values student voice
- Experience with AP-level instruction or tutoring is a plus
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
