Position Title: High School English Teacher

Location: Excel Christian Academy – Lakeland, FL

Reports To: Head of School

Position Summary

Excel Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills through the study of literature, language, and composition, while fostering a Christ-centered classroom environment.

General Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that align with school curriculum and standards.
• Teach English courses that may include American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, and Composition.
• Integrate biblical worldview principles into daily instruction.
• Assess student performance through assignments, projects, presentations, and exams, providing timely feedback.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
• Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success.
• Supervise students in classroom, extracurricular, and school-related activities.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
• Model Christian values and serve as a positive role model for students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field.
• State teaching certification or eligibility strongly preferred.
• Prior teaching experience at the secondary level is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of literature, grammar, and composition.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction effectively.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Excel Christian Academy, with a desire to help students grow both academically and spiritually.
