High School Literature Teacher (U.S. & British Literature) + Tutor

Join our dynamic educational team as a High School Literature Teacher specializing in U.S. and British Literature, (two 90-minute classes weekly combined with supervised learning and all subjects tutoring upon request. This position is for the 2026-2027 academic year. In this role, you will inspire students to develop a deep appreciation for classic and contemporary literary works, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a love for reading and writing. Your passion for literature and education will help students unlock their potential and succeed academically while cultivating their understanding of diverse cultural perspectives. Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons on U.S. and British literature that align with curriculum standards and foster critical analysis
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans that incorporate diverse texts, multimedia resources, and innovative teaching methods
  • Facilitate classroom discussions that encourage student participation, interpretation, and debate of literary themes and contexts
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment conducive to student growth
  • Assess student progress regularly through assignments, tests, projects, and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials that incorporate literacy education best practices and accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Engage with parents or guardians to communicate student progress and encourage academic success at home

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in teaching high school literature or related subjects, with a focus on U.S. and British classics
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques
  • Excellent writing skills combined with the ability to inspire a love for reading and storytelling
  • Familiarity with learning technology tools used in modern classrooms for interactive instruction
  • Experience in homeschool or co-op settings ++
  • Passion for working with students and supporting their academic growth in literature and language arts
