Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that cover core math topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, discrete math, and differential equations.
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse student needs, including those requiring special education accommodations.
- Utilize innovative learning technologies and instructional design techniques to enhance classroom engagement and understanding.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, quizzes, projects, and formative assessments; provide timely feedback to support growth.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment that encourages participation and respect.
- Mentor students individually or in small groups to reinforce concepts through tutoring and personalized instruction.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavioral reports; contribute to academic advising sessions.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of mathematics disciplines including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, organic chemistry (as it relates to biochemistry), genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, and scientific research methods.
- Proven experience in classroom management and behavior management strategies that foster a productive learning environment.
- Expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored for high school students.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools such as digital whiteboards, educational software, and online assessment platforms.
- Excellent communication skills for effective instruction, mentoring students, collaborating with colleagues, and engaging with parents or guardians.
- Experience working with diverse learners including those in special education or private school settings; understanding of Montessori or other specialized educational approaches is a plus.
- Ability to prepare students for standardized testing through targeted practice and review sessions.
- Laboratory experience including dissection techniques and research laboratory skills related to biology or chemistry courses is desirable.
