High School Math Teacher (Geometry)-Leave Replacement

Position: High School Math Teacher, Grades 9-12

The Position: High School Teacher of Math (Geometry)-Leave Replacement (from 01/08/26 to 03/05/26)

Instructional Responsibilities

Ø Collaboratively plan with teachers, counselors, and support staff to meet the needs of our students

Ø Provide a range of instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the different needs of students

Ø Plan units and lessons for allclasses that will develop skills aligning to the Common Core Standards

Ø Work with at-risk students as well as students with disabilities

Ø Participate as part of Pupil Personnel Committee in develop intervention strategies (Kid Talk)

Ø Review/grade student work and provide meaningful feedback to improve student skills

Ø Incorporate literacy into all units of instruction

Ø Develop relationships and consistently communicate with students’ families

Other Professional Responsibilities

· Ensure the safety of students under your supervision

· Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, as needed, such as hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, supervision of extracurricular activities and dismissal

· Assist in moving students to proper locations during fire drills, special assemblies and events

· Collaborate as scheduled with other staff members (Common Planning Time)

· Keep accurate and organized records for student attendance and progress

· Provide tutoring to small student groups as needed

Qualifications

Ø Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)

Ø High School experience preferred but not required

Ø Valid New York State Certification and/or must have valid NYS certification within 1 year of date of hire

Ø Familiarity with Smart Board and other instructional technology

Ø Urban teaching experience or other similar experience in an urban setting preferred

Ø Desire to work in a teacher – driven, student - centered environment

Ø Ability to work well with colleagues

Ø Ability to communicate effectively and often with parents and families

Ø Belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
