Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced high school social science teacher to join our dynamic faculty team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in social sciences, capable of teaching various courses including AP U.S. History, AP World History, AP Human Geography, U.S. History, World History, Government, Economics, Sociology, or Psychology. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment while promoting critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication among students.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver High-Quality Instruction: Plan, prepare, and teach engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote critical thinking, analysis, and real-world understanding in social science subjects.
- Foster an Inclusive Classroom: Create a supportive learning environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Differentiate Instruction: Use varied teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English language learners and students with special needs.
- Assess and Support Learning: Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and provide timely, constructive feedback that promotes academic growth.
- Maintain Positive Classroom Management: Establish clear expectations and maintain an orderly, respectful environment conducive to learning and student success.
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work with colleagues to design interdisciplinary units, share effective practices, and align instructional goals across grade levels and subject areas.
- Engage in Continuous Growth: Stay current on trends in social science education, teaching methodologies, and instructional technology.
- Contribute to School Community: Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school-wide activities, and perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certificate/license in secondary Social Science (Preferred).
- Familiarity with various teaching strategies, assessment techniques, and educational technologies to support student learning and engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, with the ability to create inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students.
- Passion for social sciences, education, and the teaching profession, genuinely aiming to inspire and empower students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
