Position Title: High School Social Studies Teacher (W2)

Compensation: Annual Salary: $63,500 – $72,000 + Benefits
Reports To: High School Principal & Vice Principal
The High School Social Studies Teacher will create engaging and thought-provoking learning experiences that promote critical thinking, civic engagement, and a deep understanding of history and global perspectives. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity, encourage respectful discourse, and guide students in analyzing historical and contemporary issues.
- Plan and implement standards-aligned lessons that support the development of historical knowledge, analytical skills, and civic awareness.
- Incorporate primary and secondary sources to strengthen students’ historical inquiry and critical thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of diverse learners, including students with special education services, multilingual learners, and advanced students.
- Use a variety of assessment tools to evaluate student understanding and provide meaningful feedback.
- Integrate technology and interactive resources to enhance engagement and deepen learning.
- Promote respectful classroom discussions that encourage multiple perspectives and active participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development, PLCs, and school initiatives to continuously refine instructional practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, Political Science, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification in Social Studies (Grades 9–12) - required
- Minimum of two years of high school teaching experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and World History content , primary source analysis , and historical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and instructional technology tools.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
