Position: High School Spanish Teacher
Reports to: World Language Department Chair & Principal
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
School Year: 2025-26 (Second Semester)

St. Benedict at Auburndale (SBA) seeks a dynamic, innovative, and faith-filled High School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator dedicated to fostering a love for the Spanish language and its diverse cultures within a supportive, Christ-centered learning environment. As we focus on rebuilding our school culture and fostering a renewed sense of community, we are looking for a teacher who is not only an expert in their subject matter but also a collaborative and enthusiastic contributor to the broader life of the school. This individual will be instrumental in creating an engaging and challenging academic experience that prepares students for college and for a life of meaningful service.
? Actively support and advance the Catholic and Benedictine traditions and mission of St. Benedict at Auburndale.
? Integrate Catholic values and teachings into instructional practices and classroom culture.
? Participate in the spiritual life of the school, including liturgies, retreats, and service programs.
? Serve as a positive Christian role model for all students.
? Plan, organize, and implement an engaging and effective instructional program for all levels of high school Spanish, potentially including Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
? Develop and deliver lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and utilize a variety of instructional techniques to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
? Foster proficiency in all four modalities of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on communicative competence and cultural understanding.
? Regularly assess student progress, provide timely and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
? Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction and provide students with authentic learning experiences.
? Collaborate with World Language Department colleagues on curriculum development, instructional strategies, and common assessments.
? Communicate proactively and effectively with students, parents, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress and well-being.
? Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide initiatives.
? Contribute to the positive culture of the school by engaging in extracurricular activities, such as moderating a club, coaching a team, or supervising student events.
Requirements:? Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
? Demonstrated fluency in Spanish (near-native or native proficiency preferred).
? Experience teaching Spanish at the high school level.
? A commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education.
? Master’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field.
? Valid Tennessee teaching license with an endorsement in Spanish, or the ability to obtain one.
? Experience teaching AP Spanish Language and/or Culture.
? Experience with curriculum design and innovative pedagogical approaches (e.g., Project-Based Learning).
? A willingness and desire to contribute to the school’s extracurricular programs.
? A collaborative, creative, and growth-oriented mindset.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
? A passion for working with high school students and fostering their academic and personal growth.
? The ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
? Flexibility, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to professional excellence.
