High School Student Intern: Technology Networking Systems

EVHS students (ages 15-19)

Rate of Pay: $16.00/hr.
Hours:
8 hrs/day; 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
General Job Function:
The Business Management & Administration intern will gain hands-on experience in the daily
operations of a school district business office. Interns will assist in key administrative functions,
including payroll processing, purchasing, and inventory management. This opportunity will help
students develop workplace skills, gain exposure to financial and operational procedures, and
understand the role of business administration in public education.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, students will:
? Understand the fundamentals of payroll processing and employee compensation
structures.
? Learn about governmental purchasing procedures, accounts payable, accounts
receivables and financial documentation.
? Gain insight into inventory management and record-keeping for school district assets.
? Develop essential workplace skills such as communication, organization, and attention to
detail.
? Enhance proficiency in office software applications, including spreadsheets and financial
databases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Support purchasing activities, including reviewing purchase orders and tracking
expenditures.
? Help maintain inventory records by updating asset logs and conducting basic audits.
? Organize and file financial documents, reports, and administrative paperwork.
? Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling meetings, and preparing
reports.
? Shadow business office staff to observe financial and administrative workflows.
? Follow confidentiality and compliance guidelines related to financial records and
employee information.
Education/Training/Experience:
? Preference will be given to applicants with successful completion of business and math
courses.
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
? Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
? Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
? Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) or Google Workspace.
? Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Proficient in google and microsoft applications.
? Proficient in keyboarding.
Physical Requirements:
? Ability to sit in front of a computer for long periods of time;
? Ability to lift 5 - 20 pounds;
? Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Work Environment:
? Office environment.
Personal Accountability:
? Business casual attire required.
? Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
? Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
? Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by Director of Finance.
