High School Tutor

The Friends of Foster Care is looking for Tutors to provide academic support to youth in the Richmond, VA area . Tutoring typically takes place after school, in-person (at the foster parent's home). Our tutors are sub-contractors- you choose your clients, preferred schedule and geographical locations. You bring the classroom experience and passion for student success and we’ll offer heartwarming work, flexible schedules and great pay!

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special education requirements
- Utilize learning technologies to enhance instruction and engage students
- Assess student progress and provide timely tutoring session reports

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification or license (or recently retired is acceptable)
- Experience working with students, preferably in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and instructional techniques
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders

Pay: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour
