High School/College Climate Reporter

STUDENT reporters only! We are looking for freshmen-juniors in high school and college.

Overview: Youth Environmental Press Team is a student-run news website that is dedicated to elevating the voices of youth journalists writing about the environment and climate crisis. The Youth Environmental Press Team (YEPT) works to find student writers brave enough to speak out about this topic. We pay student reporters to write, edit, and design, allowing them to cover real-world issues and gain valuable journalistic experience.

Pay: $100 per original story

Responsibilities:

• Stay up-to-date with current climate news
• Participate in 1-2 Wednesday night meetings every month with YEPT writers, directors, and editors
• Conduct interviews with sources including students, climate experts, and more
• Write relevant stories (700 words+) about the climate and environment
• Resolve edits and feedback on completed stories

Qualifications:

• Must be a middle school, high school (freshman-junior), or college student (freshman-junior)
• Willing to seek out story ideas and sources
• Ability to write journalistically and accept edits
• Availability 1-2 Wednesday nights a month from 7-8 p.m. EST
• Interest in environmental and climate-related topics
