Job Title: Highway Construction Mechanic

The work involves responsibility for performing both skilled and unskilled work in a number of trades while performing the construction and maintenance duties. An employee operates various types of motor equipment as well as a wide variety of hand and power tools. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level supervisor. Does related work as required.

Work Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week with benefits

Salary: $24.3834-30.8633/hr(CSEA Union)

Location: Cortland County Department of Public Works – Highway Division

Status: Non-Competitive, Probationary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years of experience in a trade related to operation of construction equipment, highway bridges and road construction and maintenance such as carpentry, masonry, structural steel work, or construction equipment operation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Possession of a valid New York State Class B Commercial Driver's license with air brake required. Failure to maintain a NYS Class B Driver's license with all required endorsements will result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
