Highway Designer

GPI seeks an enthusiastic Highway Designer in our Milford, DE office to help further the growth and development of GPI’s transportation services in the region.


We seek an individual ready to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplined team in a growing office environment. GPI has numerous interesting and challenging projects involving all types of roadway, bridge, intersection, and trail designs. Responsibilities:

  • Deliver projects for clients such as the Delaware Department of Transportation and the Maryland State Highway Administration.
  • Build effective client relationships by working collaboratively with the client.
  • Review and apply standards and other guidance to transportation applications.
  • Prepare and implement solutions that are responsive to project needs.
  • Complete tasks within the assigned schedule and budget.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Proficiency with technical writing.
  • Ability to create comprehensive and creative solutions to transportation problems.
  • Ability to work proficiently in a collaborative team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related fields preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in Highway design preferred.
  • Experience working on DelDOT and/or MDOT SHA projects preferred.
  • Experience with MicroStation and InRoads/ORD preferred.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic with a desire to work in a collaborative environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
