Highway Inspector

ABOUT US:

SR 400 Peach Partners is a Project, consisting of the design, construction, finance, operations, and maintenance of a 16-mile-long corridor in the metro Atlanta region. This project will include additional dynamically tolled free-flow express lanes in each direction between Sandy Springs in North Fulton County and McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County. The Project will also encompass the upgrade of several key bridges along the route, including those at Pitts Road, Roberts Drive, and Kimball Bridge. This is an over 50-year construction and maintenance project.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Field Inspector with strong roadway construction inspection knowledge to assess for quality and safety specifications. This Inspector is in the field, evaluating quality, ensuring measurements, standards, and documenting findings accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Problem-solving mindset with practical, hands-on understanding of construction.
  • Conducting on-site inspections of roadway construction and infrastructure for compliance with contract specifications.
  • Lead inspections, attend pre-activity meetings with contractors and independent quality assurance firm.
  • Monitor progress, quality, and discrepancies.
  • Identify defects, damage, incorrect maintenance, or potential safety hazards.
  • Document inspection findings through reports, photos, and field notes.
  • Enter tickets and feedback into Project Maintenance System.
  • Travel on 16 mile construction project in varying outdoor conditions (heat, cold, uneven terrain).
  • Should occasionally be flexibility with work hours when needed.
  • Ensure material certification requirements are met for Final Acceptance.
  • Perform contract administrative duties and maintain required documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of progressive roadway construction inspection experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience.
  • MVR must be clear.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in physically active environments.
  • Understanding of building, focus on roadways.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a strong aptitude for technology and digital systems.

Preferred Skills

  • Certification as a building inspector or relevant trade background
  • Experience with inspection software or reporting tools
  • Experience with Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to weather, dust, noise, and active work zones
  • May involve climbing ladders, walking uneven terrain, and lifting equipment

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
