HIS IT SPECIALIST

EHR/HIS Support & Implementation

  • Provide advanced support for EHR and HIS modules including Patient Registration, EMR, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Billing, and Clinical Documentation.
  • Participate in the implementation, configuration, and optimization of HIS/EHR modules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve module-specific issues and workflow challenges.
  • Test and validate new HIS/EHR functionalities, upgrades, and patches.
  • Customization, updates, and debugging of the HIS/EHR system by coordinating with external vendors.

2. Database Management

  • Administer and maintain MS SQL Server and MongoDB databases supporting HIS/EHR systems.
  • Perform database optimization, backup, recovery, and data integrity checks.
  • Write queries, stored procedures, and scripts to generate reports and automate tasks.

3. Application Development & Integration

  • Develop and maintain HIS-related applications using C# or other .NET technologies.
  • Build interfaces between HIS/EHR and external systems such as LIS, PACS, and pharmacy systems.
  • Implement HL7/FHIR APIs for seamless data exchange across clinical and administrative platforms.
  • Support automation of workflows and reporting requirements via custom applications.

4. Interoperability & Standards Compliance

  • Implement, monitor, and troubleshoot clinical system interfaces using HL7 v2.x, HL7 FHIR, DICOM, and other standards.
  • Ensure HIS/EHR interoperability with laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy systems.
  • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with healthcare IT standards, data security, and privacy regulations.

5. User Support & Training

  • Provide technical support to clinicians, administrative staff, and IT teams.
  • Conduct training sessions on HIS/EHR modules and custom applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications:Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Certifications in HIS/EHR systems, database administration, or healthcare IT standards (HL7, FHIR) are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HIS/EHR support, implementation, and interoperability projects.
  • Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, MongoDB, and application development (preferably in ASP.NET / C#).
  • Experience integrating LIS, PACS, and other hospital systems.
  • Practical knowledge of HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and healthcare interoperability standards.

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of HIS/EHR systems and clinical workflows.
  • Proficiency in database management, query optimization, and reporting.
  • Application development skills for automating HIS workflows and reports.
  • Expertise in designing, testing, and troubleshooting system interfaces (HL7/FHIR).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work in a hospital environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of managing complex IT projects.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to train non-technical staff.
  • Based in a 24/7 running hospital IT department; may require occasional on-call support and midnight updates.
  • Frequent collaboration with clinical, administrative, and IT teams.
  • Participation in system upgrades, implementation projects, and audits.
