The Histotechnologist is a position for laboratory testing services at Riverchase Dermatology. Individuals provide daily direction to Histology Technicians, and other laboratory staff regarding laboratory policies and procedures, equipment, education, informatics, and quality assurance. The Histotechnologist motivates, coordinates, and supports staff to ensure quality results are reported in a timely manner. Incumbents operate under general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and will recommend adjustments to staffing, policies, and procedures.
The Technologist will assume those duties as delegated by the Laboratory Administrator to maintain regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA, and AHCA. Competency evaluations shall be performed by the Laboratory Manager.
Responsibilities: Assists the Laboratory Manager/Administrator with the following tasks.

Coordinate workflow throughout the Laboratory to ensure quality results are reported in a clinically useful time frame.

Coordinate new employee orientation within the department.

Assist manager with assessing, coordinating, documenting, and scheduling training and competency testing.

Communicate regularly with manager to relay problems or concerns. Act as spokesperson for personnel in recommending changes in staffing or procedures.

Communicate and/or clarify procedural and policy changes to other personnel.

With managerial oversight perform duties such as scheduling, writing policies, submitting, and responding to patient safety concerns, troubleshooting quality assurance concerns.

Assist with maintaining inventory and supplies for the operations of the laboratory

Maintains a positive attitude by caring and being supportive of patients, providers, and co-workers.

Assists in maintaining a smooth and efficient lab flow.

Assists in maintaining the lab in a clean and orderly fashion.

Checks inter-office mail daily.
Job Requirements

Associate's degree or higher in science from an accredited school
-
Completion of a NAACL's accredited Histology Program
-
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology
-
License by the state of Florida as a Histology Technologist, HTL.

Basic computer knowledge, with the ability and desire for continued education
