Lake Forest Academy is seeking a History & Social Science Teacher to begin in the fall of 2026. This position will teach World History classes with the potential addition of other electives in the department. Additionally, this position will be fully involved in the co-curricular afternoon program. The school is deeply committed to a diverse faculty and student body.

General overview of responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned four sections of History.
  • Meet in department course teams to improve curriculum and student experience.
  • Write formal comments on students four times per year and informal progress reports four times per year.
  • Meet with parents, as needed.
  • Maintain a Professional Growth Plan in consultation with the department chair.
  • Take part in the school’s co-curricular program through involvement in athletics and/or the arts.
  • Serve as an Advisor or Co-Advisor to a small group of students.
  • Serve on committees and task forces, as needed.
  • If residential faculty, fulfill weeknight (once a week) and weekend (7 per year) residential duties.

Preferred experience and/or education:
  • Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching a broad range of history and social science courses that include World History, US History, Government and Economics. Experience with AP, preferred.

Compensation/Benefits:
Lake Forest Academy offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes full medical and dental coverage, 403(b) retirement plan, and other benefits. Final salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the final appointed candidate based on the school’s salary scale.
