History Teacher

Overview

The Mind Palace Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Concierge Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in delivering exceptional, personalized instruction to students, fostering intellectual growth, curiosity, and confidence.

This position is designed for passionate educators who enjoy working one-on-one or in small groups, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and learning style. The role focuses primarily on U.S. History, especially AP U.S. History (APUSH), though candidates with experience in other academic areas (e.g., SAT, college essays, or additional AP subjects) are encouraged to apply.

Teachers enjoy flexible scheduling, the ability to choose their own hours, and consistent multi-month teaching engagements lasting 4–6 months at a time (and sometimes up to 10 months). This will be scheduled mostly guaranteed hours throughout the year.

The schedule is flexible and would primarily be afterschool or over the weekend but we would align with your schedule as much as possible.

Responsibilities

• Teach lessons in U.S. History and APUSH.
• Provide individualized instruction aligned with each student’s learning pace and academic goals.
• Utilize strong classroom management and communication skills to maintain focus and motivation.
• Communicate effectively with families regarding progress, goals, and academic growth.
• Collaborate with the academic team to ensure high-quality instruction and consistent student progress.
• Optionally, assist with standardized test preparation (e.g., SAT, ACT) or other academic subjects based on skill and interest.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required (History, Education, Political Science, or related field preferred).
• Proven experience teaching or tutoring History, ideally AP U.S. History (APUSH).
• Strong understanding of U.S. History concepts, critical thinking, and writing skills required for AP-level performance.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Reliable transportation for in-person student visits.
• Flexibility, professionalism, and enthusiasm for helping students succeed.
• Additional expertise in other subjects (SAT, college essays, AP courses, etc.) is highly desirable.
