Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development principles, AP style guidelines, and creative writing techniques to enhance student understanding of historical concepts.
- Utilize learning technology tools to create interactive lessons that promote active participation and facilitate differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
- Develop assessments aligned with standardized testing requirements to evaluate student progress accurately and provide targeted feedback.
- Mentor students by providing academic advising, supporting literacy development, and fostering a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior management strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches, including research methods, library services, and educational administration practices.
- Conduct copy editing and proofreading of student work to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to higher education teaching methodologies, special education strategies, Montessori or private school best practices, and linguistics to continually enhance instructional effectiveness.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle or high school students in a formal educational setting.
- Strong background in history education with expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and lesson planning.
- Familiarity with assessment tools including standardized testing procedures and academic advising techniques.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including those requiring special education accommodations or behavior management support.
- Demonstrated skills in communication, organizational leadership, tutoring, proofing student work, and working with learning technology platforms.
- Prior private school experience or familiarity with Montessori methods is a plus but not required.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year
