Established in 1949, the Trust provides residential care, education, vocational training, and rehabilitation services for children in need of care and protection. The institution works in close collaboration with government authorities, including the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and other child protection agencies, ensuring that every child’s rights, safety, and developmental needs are upheld in accordance with statutory guidelines

Position Summary:

Job Title: Home Care Staff – Children’s Home

Location: Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust, T. Nagar, Chennai

Reports To: Social worker

Job Type: Full-time (residential or shift basis—willing to work on night shift).

Job Summary:

The Home Care Staff plays a key role in ensuring the daily care, comfort, and well-being of children residing in the Bala Mandir Children’s Home. The role involves attending to the physical, emotional, and hygiene needs of the children, maintaining cleanliness in the living area, and supporting the overall routine and discipline of the Home. We are seeking candidates who can work in shifts, preferably residential staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care for children, including feeding, bathing, dressing, and monitoring their well-being.
  • Take special care of infants and toddlers (0– 5 years) – including bottle feeding, diaper changing, and maintaining hygiene.
  • Support older children in following daily routines such as study, play, and bedtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in dormitories, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Ensure that children’s clothes, bedding, and personal items are clean and properly arranged.
  • Observe and report any signs of illness or distress among children to the Nurse or Unit Head.
  • Assist in organizing mealtime, ensuring every child eats adequately and on time.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and emotionally supportive environment.
  • Coordinate with other caregivers, teachers, and staff to ensure smooth functioning of the unit.
  • Follow duty schedules, safety protocols, and guidelines of the institution.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 10th / 12th standard education (formal training in childcare preferred).
  • Prior experience in child care, crèche, or children’s home is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene, feeding, and handling of young children.
  • Ability to work with compassion, patience, and responsibility.

Other Requirements:

  • Physically fit and emotionally stable to care for children of different age groups.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts (including night duties)

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
