Home Delivery Coordinator

Your Role in Our Mission

The Home Delivery Coordinator (HDC) is a key member of the Programs Department responsible for coordinating and executing home delivery operations across Food Bank of the Rockies’ food security programs, Food for Health and the federal Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) or Everyday Eats. This role supports a high-volume delivery network serving approximately 1,100 homebound older adults monthly and more than 700 weekly deliveries to neighbors living with chronic illnesses. Working closely with volunteers, third-party vendors, and the Transportation, Programs, and Operations teams, the HDC manages end-to-end delivery logistics including scheduling, routing, reporting, and issue resolution to ensure timely, efficient, and neighbor-centered service. Through a strong focus on service delivery and continuous improvement, this role helps enhance the home delivery experience and expand access to nutritious food for neighbors facing barriers to in-person services, in alignment with Food Is Medicine and best-practice delivery models.


This role necessitates a keen eye for logistics and operations, including effective communication skills and by providing excellent customer service to neighbors experiencing food insecurity, to enhance the efficiency of the home delivery program, all while working in a fast-paced environment. Through high-quality planning and strong internal and external relationships, this role strengthens neighbor connections to hunger relief systems that both nourish those experiencing hunger and address the root causes of hunger and directly advances organizational goals.


What You’ll Do

Delivery Operations:

  • Create and update daily delivery routes by managing size and distance and adjusting capacity or schedules in real time based on program, operations, external courier needs, and poor weather conditions
  • Keep abreast of internal and third-party delivery outlets’ limitations to strategically route monthly and weekly deliveries
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of food to each neighbors’ homes in the programmatic service area(s)
  • Communicate order readiness needs to the Operations department and track undelivered or returned products, contacting neighbors as needed for rescheduled delivery
  • Communicate with couriers and/or neighbors directly to address customer service or delivery issues that arise
  • Lead and facilitate courier activity to promote a positive experience to maximize retention of neighbors, volunteers, and couriers.
  • Oversee the delivery metrics for delivered products and other key deliverables for reporting and budget purposes
  • Manage scheduling, communication, and support for home delivery volunteers, including training, insurance, and background check information.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for unique needs of home delivery program, support programs teams in realizing optimal efficiency
  • Serve as point of contact for operational changes, collaborating with the team to identify and implement operational improvements
  • Identify opportunities to improve home delivery workflows and processes that enhance data quality, operational efficiency, and the neighbor experience


Neighbor & Volunteer Support:

  • Assist with screening process for neighbors in the Food for Health and Everyday Eats home delivery program to ensure accurate address and delivery information
  • Serve as a primary frontline representative for the home delivery program, facilitating neighbor inquiries and fostering strong relationships with volunteers, staff, and community partners
  • Provide superior customer service internally and externally to help support the program’s effectiveness
  • Work collaboratively across departments internally to ensure an effective and efficient operation of home delivery
  • Troubleshoot volunteer related concerns, enforce safety standards, and escalate complex issues appropriately
  • Contribute to updates of volunteer resources, training materials, and workflow improvements


Compliance & Data Integrity
:

  • Manage participant’s information in Food Bank of the Rockies’ client database to maintain accurate neighbor records
  • Maintain all compliance, food safety standards, and company policies, including federal, state, and local regulations
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism, ensuring the privacy and respect of volunteers and neighbors

  • Ensures Accountability: Commits to following programmatic compliance and, in their commitment to a customer-centric focus, readily shares when challenges arise that jeopardizes deliverables.


What We're Looking For

  • Associates degree in a related field from an accredited college, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics and/or customer service
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service in a diverse environment is required
  • Previous experience in nonprofit or government preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Proficiency using routing management software for scheduling, reporting, and data entry
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online technologies
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple high volume and time sensitive tasks with competing deadlines


Expected Hours of Work:

This is a non-exempt, full-time position working approximately 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Work schedules may vary each week and consist of weekdays and evenings. A flexible work schedule is available; In-person work is required a minimum of 3 days per week, or more often based on organizational need.
