Home Health Aide

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs.
  • Monitor and record vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to track health status.
  • Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
  • Observe patients closely for changes in condition or behavior, especially in cases involving dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory care needs.
  • Support clients with specialized care such as catheter management, hospice support, or dementia-specific activities.
  • Maintain detailed medical records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to ensure seamless communication among healthcare providers.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and ensuring a safe living environment.
  • Utilize medical terminology confidently when documenting care activities and communicating with healthcare teams.
  • Work with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges to promote independence and enhance quality of life.
  • Follow all safety protocols during patient transfers or when using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in home health care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care environments.
  • Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize changes in health status.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient information.
  • Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or hospice care are a plus.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting patients safely using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts and assisting with mobility needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and understanding of medical terminology to coordinate effectively with healthcare teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Flexibility to work live-in shifts or varying hours based on client needs; previous home & community care experience is preferred. Pay: $19.65 per hour
