Home Improvement Expert — On-Camera Videos (Part-Time)

The Trade Table (thetradetable.com) is a home improvement e-commerce company with a YouTube channel that has nearly 1,000,000 views. Our most popular videos are HVAC and mini-split content. We're looking for someone with real trade experience to be our on-camera expert.

This is NOT a video editing or content creation job. We handle all editing, posting, thumbnails, and SEO. All you do is film yourself demonstrating your knowledge — installations, troubleshooting, product walkthroughs, how-to guides, and honest reviews. If you can explain how something works and show it on camera, that's the job.

Think of it like showing a homeowner how something works, except the homeowner is a camera.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Film 1 video per week on a home improvement topic (we provide the topic or you suggest based on your expertise)
• Demonstrate installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and product features on camera
• Share real-world knowledge that helps homeowners make smart decisions
• Film with your phone — we don't need Hollywood production, we need authentic expertise

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: HVAC, mini-splits, electrical, plumbing, general contracting, appliance installation, outdoor living (grills, saunas, hot tubs), or home renovation
• You actually know how these systems work — not from Google, from doing the work
• Comfortable talking on camera (doesn't need to be polished — authentic and knowledgeable beats scripted and stiff)
• Reliable — 1 video per week means 1 video per week, every week
• Owns a smartphone with a decent camera (that's all you need to start)

IDEAL CANDIDATES

• HVAC technician who wants a flexible side gig
• Electrician or plumber who enjoys teaching others
• General contractor who's good at explaining things in plain English
• Home improvement enthusiast with real hands-on project experience
• Apprentice or journeyman looking for extra income on their own schedule
• Semi-retired tradesperson who wants to stay active and share knowledge

YOU DO NOT NEED

• Video editing experience (we handle all editing)
• YouTube or social media experience (we handle posting, SEO, and strategy)
• Expensive camera equipment (your phone is fine)
• A script (we'll provide talking points — you bring the expertise)
• To be a "content creator" (we need a tradesperson, not an influencer)

THIS ROLE IS NOT A FIT IF

• You don't have real trade or home improvement experience
• You've never installed, repaired, or worked on the systems you'd be talking about
• You're not comfortable being on camera
• You can't commit to 1 video per week

HOW TO APPLY

Include the following with your application:

• What trade(s) you have experience in and how many years
• A quick selfie video (60 seconds, phone is fine) explaining one home improvement tip — this is your audition, show us you can talk to a camera
• Any certifications or licenses you hold (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) — not required but a plus

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
