Home Infusion Pharmacy Delivery Driver (PRN) (Auburn, Alabama)

Job Summary

The Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, punctual, and compliant transportation of infusion medications, supplies, and equipment to patient residences and clinical sites within designated areas. This position supports pharmacy operations by conducting local deliveries, assisting with warehouse functions as required, and maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and safety guidelines, including USP <797> and HIPAA. Delivery Drivers are integral in upholding the high level of care and service expected by the pharmacy. When not engaged in deliveries, drivers contribute to general pharmacy tasks such as cleaning, organization, waste management, and other duties as directed by warehouse supervisors.

Work Status / Schedule

PRN (as-needed). Shifts vary based on route volume and coverage needs. May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and urgent/same-day deliveries.

Qualifications – Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs safely
  • Capacity to work independently and adhere to detailed protocols
  • Strong verbal communication skills and keen attention to detail
  • Dependable transportation and promptness

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in medical delivery, courier services, or warehouse operations
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, USP <797>, and procedures for handling hazardous medications
  • Knowledge of Florida geography and navigation

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and walking
  • Extended periods of driving, including frequent vehicle entry and exit
  • Handling and transport of medication packages of varying weights and dimensions
  • Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and latex-containing products


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute local and regional delivery routes within assigned territories, adhering to established schedules.
  • Transport medications using secure, non-porous, impermeable, and sanitizable containers in compliance with USP <797>.
  • Ensure deliveries are made only to authorized individuals; packages must not be left unattended.
  • Accurately collect delivery confirmations and required documentation while protecting patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
  • Utilize RingCentral to provide delivery notifications prior to departure, and maintain clear communication with patients regarding estimated arrival times.
  • Engage professionally with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers during delivery interactions.
  • Support warehouse personnel between deliveries with responsibilities such as:
  • Inventory organization
  • Waste disposal
  • Cleaning and tidying pharmacy spaces
  • Restocking supplies
  • Preparing delivery materials
  • Comply with all pharmacy franchise delivery requirements and complete necessary competency validations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of the delivery vehicle, reporting any concerns promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
