Position Summary:
The Home Visitor Specialist provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-
based home visiting services to families with young children across New Mexico. The specialist
is responsible for building trusting relationships with caregivers, promoting positive parenting
practices, enhancing child development, and connecting families to vital resources. The Home
Visitor plays a critical role in advancing Luminous Mind Foundation’s mission to close service
gaps in underserved communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct Service Delivery:
- Provide in-home or virtual visits to families on a weekly or biweekly basis, following the
designated home visiting model.
- Conduct developmental screenings, parenting assessments, and health and safety
evaluations.
- Deliver parenting education, child development support, and guidance on early childhood
milestones.
- Encourage positive parent-child interaction and emotional bonding.
Family Engagement & Support:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.
- Assist families in setting goals and developing plans to improve well-being and self-
sufficiency.
- Connect families with community resources, including healthcare, housing, early
education, and behavioral health services.
- Support families in navigating crises and provide emotional support when needed.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all visits, assessments,
referrals, and outcomes.
- Utilize electronic data systems in accordance with program standards and funder
requirements.
- Participate in regular reflective supervision and team meetings.

- Stay informed about best practices in early childhood development, family systems, and
trauma-informed care.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and community partners.
- Represent the foundation in a professional manner during outreach or public
engagements.
- Support program outreach and recruitment of eligible families.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services,
or related field required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a case-by-
case basis.
Experience:
- Experience working with children and families in home visiting, case management, or
early childhood settings.
- Knowledge of infant/toddler development, trauma-informed care, and family systems
preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Compassionate, non-judgmental, and strengths-based approach to working with families.
- Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage a flexible caseload.
- Comfort using technology and electronic documentation tools.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to travel to family homes within the service area.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance required.
- Must pass background checks and meet state eligibility to work with children.
- Flexible schedule including occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
Pay: $19.00 per hour
