Horse Stall Cleaner at Veterinary Hospital

Overview:

We are seeking an individual with horse experience and a strong work ethic. You will be working closely with the hospitalized horses. As a candidate for this position, you will need to be comfortable and knowledgeable about horse behavior and pay attention to detail. Duties:

Daily cleaning of stalls with special attention to hospital protocol, includes cleaning ICU stalls & outdoor paddocks for horses ranging from 10-15 stalls each shift.

Daily cleaning, feeding, filling of water buckets for all in-patient horses. Picking up manure in the outside paddocks, where horses are turned out daily, as well as cleaning and filling those water buckets throughout your shift. Stripping and sanitizing stalls after a horse is discharged. Prepare stalls with fresh shavings for next patient. Stall walls often need to be washed down, and aisles need to be kept swept and blown clean.

Skills Needed:

Experience in equine husbandry and handling is required

Must have good observation skills to report anything not right with a horse or its environment

Must have ability to work outside year-round in inclement conditions

Team oriented

Care, compassion and patience around the horses at all times

Able to lift 40 pounds, such as grain bags

Dependable and timely

Good communication is a must with doctors, staff and clients
