Horticulturalist/Landscape Gardener:

Pretty City Gardens and Landscapes is seeking candidates for a Horticulturalist/Landscape laborer position. This position will be full-time Mon-Fri from approximately 8:30am-5pm.

We are a small business (team of less than 10) with the majority of our work focused on native plants, garden install/maintenance, and storm water management. Hardscaping work: paver patios, retaining walls, and natural stone are a big part of our summer workload. We are not a lawn care focused business.

Job Responsibilities:

• Weekly varying as needed: Weeding, Mulching, Pruning, Planting, Digging, Building (hardscape - patio/retaining wall/stone)
• Daily use of various tools to accomplish tasks including hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pitchforks, hoes, pruners, sheers, loppers, saws, etc., wheelbarrow, and power tools such as line trimmer, hedge trimmer, backpack blower, drill/auger, mower (we are not a lawn care focused business but sometimes rely on this tool for certain projects), and more.
• Daily work in small teams of 2-3 people to accomplish projects including garden maintenance, garden installation, and some hardscaping projects (patio/retaining wall/natural stone construction)
• Drive company vehicles to/from job sites and select/pick up materials for projects.
• Consistently on time and acting in a professional manner
• Clean and professional appearance
• Additional responsibilities may be requested depending upon company needs and employee experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to take instruction
• Ability to crouch/kneel/be on your feet for long periods of time and lift 50 to 100+ lbs several times on a daily basis.
• Work in all weather conditions; extreme heat/cold and sometimes wet weather
• Ability to follow instructions and be flexible with unexpected changes
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Good attitude!

Desired Additional Qualifications:

• 2+ Years Gardening/Landscaping experience and/or education
• Hardscaping experience
• Class E Driver's License
• Pesticide Applicator's License (Category 3)
• Knowledge/interest in gardening with native plants to support wildlife
