Come be part of the opening team! We are seeking a warm, professional Hostess to be the welcoming face of our new restaurant. The Hostess creates exceptional first impressions and ensures smooth guest flow throughout their dining experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Reception
- Greet all guests warmly and professionally upon arrival
- Manage reservations and walk-in guests efficiently
- Provide accurate wait time estimates during busy periods
- Answer phone calls and assist with reservation inquiries
- Thank guests as they depart and invite them to return
Seating & Flow Management
- Seat guests according to table assignments and server rotations
- Monitor dining room capacity and table turnover
- Balance seating to ensure even distribution across sections
- Communicate with servers about new table assignments
- Manage waitlist effectively during peak times
Reservation Management
- Handle reservation system (phone and online bookings)
- Maintain organized reservation book or digital system
- Confirm reservations and special requests
- Accommodate special seating needs when possible
- Coordinate with management for large parties or events
Communication & Coordination
- Act as liaison between front-of-house and management
- Inform servers and managers of guest concerns or special occasions
- Alert management to VIP guests or special situations
- Maintain clear communication during service transitions
Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep host stand area clean and organized
- Ensure lobby and entrance areas are tidy and welcoming
- Maintain menus in clean, presentable condition
- Monitor restroom cleanliness and alert staff when needed
- Assist with opening and closing duties
QualificationsRequired
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Professional appearance and friendly, outgoing personality
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Basic math skills for managing waitlists and table counts
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred
- Previous hostess or customer service experience
- Familiarity with reservation systems (OpenTable, Resy, etc.)
- Knowledge of restaurant terminology and operations
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish)
- Experience with phone systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (6-8 hours)
- Comfortable walking throughout the restaurant
- Capability to lift and carry menus and supplies (up to 20 lbs)
- Professional presentation and adherence to dress code
