Department: Restaurant 1796 – Front of House
Reports To: Assistant General Manager / Restaurant Manager

Job Summary

Hosts at Restaurant 1796 play an essential role in shaping the guest experience as the first and last point of contact. This position is responsible for managing reservations, welcoming guests with warmth and professionalism, and maintaining the presentation and readiness of all guest-facing areas. The ideal candidate is organized, personable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, upscale environment rooted in refined Southern hospitality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly, manage reservations, and coordinate seating to support smooth dining room flow.
• Prepare daily reservation and water lists to ensure timely table setup and service readiness.
• Create celebration cards and assist with special occasions to enhance the guest experience.
• Maintain menus and reservation books, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and availability.
• Oversee the appearance and organization of the host stand and cocktail lounge, including restocking matchbooks and mints.
• Set up, stock, and maintain restrooms with required amenities, ensuring cleanliness and presentation throughout service.
• Monitor guest-facing areas during service, including restrooms, server stations, and the bar lounge, addressing cleanliness and presentation needs as they arise.
• Assist with opening duties such as placing entrance rugs, checking floral arrangements, and watering plants on scheduled days.
• Complete closing duties by collecting menus and books, rolling and storing rugs, restocking restroom supplies, and cleaning restroom surfaces.
• Communicate effectively with servers, food runners, and management to support efficient service and guest satisfaction.
• Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to maintain a welcoming, organized, and polished dining environment.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Pay: From $7.50 per hour
