Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate General Dentist with over 15 years of clinical expertise to join our team as our "Host Dentist" in Watertown. As the Host Dentist, you will not only provide top-tier dental care but also lead by example, modeling and teaching our team how to deliver a spa-like, tranquil experience for every patient. Your ability to connect with patients, especially those who are anxious or have complex medical needs, will be a key element of our success.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of clinical expertise, particularly in restorative dentistry, and a passion for creating a peaceful and healing environment. You will work closely with our dedicated team, who are committed to patient-centered care, and help foster an atmosphere of calm, comfort, and relaxation. We emphasize a consultative approach, where patients feel heard, respected, and fully informed about their treatment options, so they can make the best decisions for their health.

As a Host Dentist, you will have the opportunity to mentor your team, guiding them in the best practices for not only clinical care but also creating a serene, spa-like environment. In this role, you will also play a central part in ensuring that our unique sedation dentistry model—supervised by Board-Certified Anesthesiologists and skilled Registered Nurses—is delivered in a comfortable, safe, and predictable manner. Key Responsibilities:

- Comprehensive Patient Care: Deliver high-quality dental care across a range of services, including preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, with a focus on creating a positive experience for every patient, particularly those with anxiety and medical concerns.

- Sedation Dentistry Expertise: Utilize sedation techniques to provide a comfortable experience for patients who are anxious or fearful about dental procedures. Stay informed about the latest advancements in sedation dentistry and ensure the highest standards of safety and efficacy.

- Patient Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' oral health and medical histories to develop individualized treatment plans that address their unique needs.

-Collaborate with patients to ensure they understand their options and feel empowered to make informed decisions about their care.

- Exceptional Communication Skills: The Host GD must be able to effectively use both verbal and non-verbal communication to create a calming empathetic environment for patients, staff, referring Gd’s and follow up to instill confidence in their care and/or role. The role requires the ability to adjust communication style to accommodate diverse patient populations and age groups, ensuring clarity, empathy, and comfort for all individuals.

- Management of Medically Compromised Patients: Demonstrate proficiency in treating patients with complex medical backgrounds, ensuring that care is tailored to their specific health conditions. Collaborate with other healthcare providers when necessary to ensure comprehensive care.

- Emotional intelligence and patient-centered care:

· Demonstrates empathy, patience, and understanding to alleviate dental anxiety and build a sense of trust with each patient.

· Prioritizes making patients feel heard and comfortable, especially those with past dental trauma or significant anxiety.

· Educate patients about their oral health, preventive measures, and the importance of regular dental visits.

· Foster a culture of proactive dental care and empower patients to take charge of their oral health journey.

· Must have the ability to create a welcoming environment in the operatory, demonstrating a compassionate and attentive approach to patient interactions.

· Must actively listen to patient concerns, build trust, and introduce the dental team to enhance patient comfort.

- Understanding of Patient Psychology: Knowledge and sensitivity regarding the psychological factors affecting patients with dental anxiety, including fear of needles, drill sounds, and prior trauma.

- Follow-Up Care: Ensure thorough post-treatment follow-up with patients, addressing any concerns and reinforcing the importance of ongoing care. Must commit to providing exceptional post-treatment follow-up, including personally contacting each patient on the evening of their procedure to check on their recovery and address any further questions or concerns. Maintain open communication to support patients in their recovery and future.

-Team Collaboration and Clinical Leadership:The Host Dentist plays a key role in fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment by working closely with dental hygienists, assistants, and administrative staff. Ensures a seamless patient experience through effective communication and teamwork. In addition to clinical duties, the Host Dentist will work directly with the Clinical Director, providing mentorship and guidance to team members to promote professional growth and elevate overall practice performance. This includes documenting clinical processes, creating training materials, and supporting ongoing education to refine skills and procedures. The Host Dentist also encourages a peer-driven culture, facilitating a supportive and high-performance work environment that enhances patient care and operational efficiency.

- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, remaining adaptable in a dynamic work environment.

- Continuous Professional Development: Actively pursuing opportunities to stay up to date with the latest developments in dentistry, particularly advancements in sedation techniques and effective management of anxious patients. Engage in ongoing continuing education to refine clinical skills and deepen knowledge in specialized areas of care.

-Leadership in Governance and Standard of Care: Collaborate with the Clinical Director and contribute to leading the Clinical Governance Review Committee. Help evolve and shape the practice’s standard of care by reviewing and implementing best practices, ensuring continuous improvement in patient safety, quality, and treatment outcomes.

Experience:

-Extensive Clinical Expertise: At least 15 years of successful clinical practice in general dentistry, with a specialized focus on sedation techniques and restorative dentistry. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep passion for patient care and possess advanced skills in providing comprehensive dental treatments.

-Proven Track Record in Patient Care: Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional patient care, ensuring positive outcomes across a wide range of dental procedures. A strong commitment to addressing diverse patient needs with empathy and professionalism is essential.

-Broad Procedural Experience: The host dentist must be proficient in treating a broad spectrum of dental procedures, from routine hygiene checks to complex restorative cases, including full arch treatments. Flexibility and a willingness to accommodate a variety of patient needs, including general dental and restorative care, is critical to success in this role.

As part of our collaborative team, you will work alongside our board-certified anesthesiologist to ensure a safe and effective sedation experience for our patients. You are highly skilled in monitoring a variety of sedation agents, with a deep understanding of sedation pharmacology. This expertise allows you to assess patient needs accurately and select the most appropriate sedation techniques for each case, ensuring both safety and comfort.

You are proficient in managing sedation-related complications and can quickly adapt to changes in the patient’s condition during procedures. Your commitment to continuous improvement is demonstrated by your ongoing efforts to explore innovative methods and tools that enhance patient care while minimizing risks.

Additionally, it is essential to maintain an active Infinity Host Anesthesia Permit to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of care.

-Dental Procedures and Patient Management: A comprehensive understanding of a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative, cosmetic, and complex treatment cases. The dentist must be able to manage diverse patient needs, tailor treatment plans based on the patient’s medical history and sedation requirements, and adjust care strategies in real-time to ensure the best possible outcomes. This includes a strong focus on patient comfort and the effective management of patient anxiety, particularly for those undergoing sedation.

-*_Time Management and Organizational Skills_*: Strong ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting, prioritizing patient care and treatment needs. Must be able to balance consultations, procedures, and follow-ups while maintaining a high standard of care and patient satisfaction.

-*_Decision-Making in Emergencies_*: Able to make quick, informed decisions in urgent or emergency situations, ensuring patient safety is always the top priority. A calm and efficient approach to handling medical or dental emergencies is critical.

Location, Schedule, and Travel:

-The host dentist must be present in the office a minimum of 3-4 days per week to facilitate scheduling consultations, maintain a high level of patient care, and ensure continuity in treatment planning. The host dentist is responsible for developing, reviewing and confirming every treatment plan discussed with the consultant and must meet with every patient before they are discharged including follow- up patient calls <24 hours post treatment.

-The host dentist must be local to Watertown or willing to relocate, with a strong understanding of and connection to the local patient population. Familiarity with the community and its specific healthcare needs is essential for success in this role.

-The host dentist will be expected to visit and collaborate with other healthcare providers in the Watertown area, actively participating in expanding our network of professional partnerships. This includes building relationships with dental specialists, healthcare providers, and other professionals in the region to facilitate patient referrals, identify new opportunities, and foster growth within the practice.

-Engagement with local community organizations, healthcare providers, and dental specialists is crucial. The host dentist will be a key player in creating and nurturing a network that supports the practice’s growth, attracts future partners, and enhances patient care through collaborative efforts.

-The host dentist will also participate in community outreach events and educational seminars to raise awareness of sedation dentistry services, positioning Infinity Sedation Dentistry as a trusted and respected provider in the local healthcare community. This active involvement not only strengthens the practice’s reputation but also helps build trust with potential patients and partners alike.

Licensure and Certifications:

-Active Dental License: Must hold and maintain an active dental license in the state of practice.

-*_Sedation Dentistry Certification_*: -Certification in sedation dentistry is required, with training in various sedation techniques (e.g., nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation). The dentist must be proficient in managing sedation-related complications and ensuring patient safety throughout the sedation process.

-Prescribing Authority: Must be proficient in prescribing medications, including sedatives, analgesics, and antibiotics, and managing patient prescriptions to ensure comprehensive care.

-Basic Life Support (BLS): Current certification in Basic Life Support is required.

-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): ACLS certification may be required to manage more complex medical situations in a sedation or emergency setting.

This includes staying current with the latest research, innovations in sedation, and best practices for patient management.
