DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support the agency’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan philosophy
2. Manage all responsibilities based on the agency's mission, using individual choice, and all appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations
3. Conduct oneself in a way that reflects the highest standards of professional courtesy and ethical practices to people served, staff, guardians, families, and all outside contacts

Assistance to Director of Community Options


  • Provide assistance to the Director of Community Options in their absence.
  • Participate in agency-wide functions to support entire organization, including intra-agency and interagency committees and development of policies and procedures.
  • Submit recommendations regarding the development and/or revision of Agency policies, procedures and strategic goals pertinent to Host Home services.
  • Interact with Community Options, Host Home providers, EP!C staff, Host Home Individuals, family members, other professionals, and other relevant individuals in a professional manner.

Staff Supervision


1. 1. In cooperation with the HR department, conduct interviews, hire, supervise, assign tasks, evaluate performance, and, when necessary, discharge personnel directly and in coordination with relevant department heads.

2. 2. Directly supervise the designated positions of the Community Options program.

  • Provide OJT and CBTA training for DSPs when Host Home Manager requests support.

C. Personnel Responsibilities


1. 1. Interview applicants and look for the skills and experience that meet the needs of the people we support

2. 2. Ensure team trainers and other EP!C professionals orient and train new team members to meet the interests and programmatic goals of persons supported

3. 3. Continuously assess new staff members' skills and address any weaknesses or concerns identified in their job performance

4. 4. Monitor that all staff meet performance expectations and address concerns promptly to ensure peak performance for the person supported

5. 5. Complete all payroll and personnel tasks within the specified timeline. This may include creating schedules, verifying timecards, processing Paid Leave requests, and administering Intermittent FMLA and VESSA

6. 6. Track tardiness and absences, and follow up with any employee issues promptly

7. 7. Ensure that all procedures, protocols, and forms are available and up to date


Department/Program Development and Coordination (Delivery of Quality Service)

  • As a mandated reporter, ensure all allegations of abuse and neglect are reported as required.
  • Monitor that all required documentation is completed regarding individuals served, quality assurance, and home environment.
  • Monitor relief hours/vacation per individual served with monthly summaries.
  • Oversee the maintenance of files for Host Home to ensure compliance with rule 115.
  • Participate in Community Options management team.
  • Take minutes at all meetings and distribute to Community Options management team.
  • Attending department meetings, in-services, as directed by the Director.
  • Assure compliance with all agency policies, licensing, accrediting, certifying, approving, and reviewing bodies affecting program operations.
  • Contact Peoria area businesses and schedule educational/behavioral trainings for providers and/or individuals.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call system.

Marginal Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • As a mandated reporter ensures all allegations, abuse, and neglect are reported as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one-year supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Vehicle Insurance.
  • One years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Complete DSP training in accordance with the state regulations, and maintain status on the Health Care Worker’s Registry.
  • Obtain/maintain standing as an Authorized Direct Support Person for medication administration.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular reaching, grasping, and standing.
  • Other physical activities related to an office environment.
  • Operates general office equipment, including multi-line phone, fax machine, printer, copier, and personal computer.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


Assist by providing administrative and program direction for Community Options program areas. Ensure all individuals have a safe home environment and/or respite care. Participate in Host Homes vacations. Maintain the program in compliance with rules, regulations, laws, codes, and agency policies pertinent to each program area. Facilitate, develop, and implement training in accordance with Rule 50, Department of Human Services Rule 115, Rule 116, Rule 119, Rule 120, and other relevant regulatory guidelines.
