Host / Cashier
Hiring Locations: Downey and Pico Rivera
Employment Type: Part Time
Compensation: Hourly pay plus tips
We are currently hiring Host/Cashier candidates for both our Downey and Pico Rivera locations. Applicants may be considered for either location based on availability, experience, and business needs.
This is not a typical Host/Cashier position.
If you are looking for a job where you simply seat guests, answer phones, or run a register, this role is not a fit.
At Mariscos Choix, hospitality is intentional. We believe service is transactional, but hospitality is transformational. Our Host/Cashier team is the first and last impression of our restaurant, and that responsibility is taken seriously.
Fluency in BOTH English and Spanish is required. No exceptions.
Mandatory monthly off-site paid training is required. No exceptions.
This position interacts directly with guests who speak only Spanish and guests who speak only English. You must be able to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally in both languages to properly assist guests and perform the responsibilities of this role.
About Mariscos Choix
Mariscos Choix is built on a culture of genuine hospitality, high standards, and accountability. We do not just serve food. We create experiences.
Every guest interaction matters. Every team member plays a role in making guests feel cared for, seen, respected, and welcomed.
What This Role Truly Requires
As a Host/Cashier, you are the tone setter for the entire dining experience. Your role goes far beyond greeting guests, managing the waitlist, answering phones, or processing payments.
You are responsible for creating a welcoming, organized, professional, and memorable experience from the moment guests arrive to the moment they leave.
This role requires emotional awareness, confidence, urgency, strong communication, and professionalism under pressure. You must be able to manage guest flow, communicate clearly with the team, handle busy moments calmly, and deliver hospitality without excuses.
We are not looking for someone who wants to work under the radar, avoid guest interaction, or do the bare minimum. We are looking for a standout Host/Cashier who takes pride in being the face of the restaurant.
Our Standard: Unconditional Hospitality
We believe in unconditional hospitality.
That means every guest is treated with warmth, respect, patience, and professionalism regardless of how busy the restaurant is, how long the wait is, or how challenging the situation may be.
A great Host/Cashier understands that hospitality is shown through tone, body language, eye contact, communication, organization, and the ability to make guests feel cared for even during high-pressure moments.
