Job Overview

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and hospitality-driven Host/Hostess to join our team at our upscale casual Italian restaurant. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, this role is essential in creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable dining experience.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can stay calm and professional during busy dinner service. A successful Host/Hostess is attentive, team-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional guest service from the moment guests arrive until they leave.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival.
• Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating arrangements efficiently to support smooth restaurant flow.
• Escort guests to tables and provide menus while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
• Answer phones professionally and assist guests with reservations, questions, and general inquiries.
• Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff regarding seating needs and table status.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, entryway, waiting area, and menus.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness throughout the restaurant, including restrooms, patio, and private dining spaces, to help provide an exceptional dining experience for all guests.
• Monitor dining room activity and assist with guest needs as they arise.
• Help coordinate large parties, private events, and special accommodations when needed.
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
• Support front-of-house operations and assist team members as needed during busy service periods.

Qualifications

• Previous host, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable using reservation and waitlist systems.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic required.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Ability to move throughout the dining room and restaurant frequently.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds.
