Role Overview

Hosts are responsible for managing the door, waitlist, and first impressions of the restaurant while supporting smooth table turns and dining room flow. This role requires applying CHEERS through strong awareness, communication, and intentional guest engagement — using both what you see on the floor and what you hear in conversation.

Responsibilities + Duties

  • Apply CHEERS consistently throughout the shift:
    • Cheerful Prompt Greet: Acknowledge guests immediately, open doors when possible, and create a warm first impression
    • Hospitality First: Support the dining room by pre-bussing, resetting tables, and stepping in where needed
    • Engage Guests: Build rapport by asking open-ended questions (e.g., “What brings you in today?” or “Have you been here before?”)
    • Ease Their Needs: Anticipate guest needs by reading body language, managing expectations, and providing timely updates
    • Ready for ’Em: Manage table turns using both the tablet and real-time dining room awareness — watching pre-bussing, pacing, and section flow
    • Swipe That Card – Say Goodbye: Thank guests as they leave and create a positive final impression
  • Identify first-time guests and regulars through conversation, not just seating
  • Share relevant guest information with servers (celebrations, first visit, preferences) to support personalized service
  • Communicate clearly with Service Managers regarding wait times, table readiness, and dining room flow
  • Explain the menu layout and highlight signature dishes, drinks, and specials in a natural, conversational way
  • Introduce and support sign-ups for the Parry’s loyalty program when appropriate
  • Answer phones, take to-go orders, and assist during peak periods
  • Maintain entryway and dining room cleanliness and organization

Qualifications + Skills

  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging guests in conversation and asking open-ended questions
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs. as needed
  • Professional, energetic, and guest-focused demeanor
  • Adheres to Parry’s uniform and appearance standards at all times
  • Willingness to learn the Parry’s story, menu, and service expectations
